World Day Against Trafficking in Persons resonates with the heart of Connect 2 Ministries. Each year on July 30, we join the global movement to end human trafficking as an extension of our ongoing ministry during the year. More than 115 children rescued from trafficking have called our Connect 2 Ministries community their home, living in an environment where they are loved, educated, and given a hope-filled future.

It’s encouraging to see what God can do in the lives of rescued children. Today, we asked our founder, Greg Barshaw, to share about a recent encouraging development in our Children’s Home.

One of the blessings of this ministry is being able to open our doors to children who simply need a safe place to belong. Recently, we welcomed a new restavek child, Patricia, into our care after a thorough background review through the Brigade for the Protection of Minors. Every child who comes to us carries a different story, and while we won’t share all of Patricia’s, we’re thankful the Lord has brought her to a place where she will be loved, cared for, and given the opportunity to grow in a Christ-centered environment.

The first few weeks are always an adjustment, but we’re encouraged by how Patricia is settling in. She has already formed a special connection with Pastor Poyis, whose gentle care has been a tremendous encouragement to her. She’s also beginning to find her place in the girls’ dorm, learning what it means to live, study, worship, and play alongside so many other girls who have become a family to one another. Please pray that Patricia will continue to feel safe and welcomed, that she will build lasting friendships, and that she will come to know more deeply the love of Christ through the people who care for her each day.

• Pray for our Haitian staff, who care for and minister to our rescued children every day.
• Pray that each child in our care would know the healing power and salvation of Jesus Christ.
