Highlights of Ministry
It was hot and humid when we landed in Haiti. The flight was long, and I was looking forward to seeing Pastor Poyis. I got into his car and we headed to Onaville, where the compound and Children’s Homes are located. I was hoping to get as much time with Poyis on this trip as possible, and this car ride proved to be a good start. As we drove, he shared about the current state of affairs in Haiti. The country continues to experience political and social turmoil, but God has been faithful to protect His church and His people despite deep-rooted problems in the greater society.
We arrived at the compound, and a few things about our ongoing projects and ministry immediately stood out in my mind.
Electricity. It was amazing to have electricity all the time, due to the team that came in March 2020 and installed solar panels and batteries. Before that, there was no electricity during the day and a generator ran at night. This is a huge blessing, as most of Haiti has limited access to electrical power.
Mercy Network. Much of the work we had planned for this trip had to do with providing support to our Mercy Network pastors. These men serve so faithfully, day in and day out, and it is amazing to witness the ongoing ministry they are able to accomplish in their churches and communities.
Sponsorship Program. Connect 2 Ministries facilitates a program for individuals in America (or around the world) to sponsor children in our homes. Currently, we have capacity for about 200 children, and our hope is that all the pastors in our Mercy Network would be able to support small homes of their own in the future.
Reflecting on God’s work through these ministries is such an encouragement.
