We’ve seen God work powerfully in our ministry over the years, and one of the ways this has been most obvious is through answered prayer. Bringing requests before the Lord is our privilege as His children, and He delights to hear us when we come to Him. Whether praying individually or collectively, God’s plan has always been for His church to carry out kingdom work in the context of relationship with Him. Here are some reasons why.
1. Spiritual Foundation. Ministering to others starts with a strong foundation in relationship with God, and prayer lays the groundwork. When we pray, we seek and submit to God’s hand in our work, asking for His guidance and wisdom as we long to know Him more. Prayer helps align our hearts with His will, ensuring that our efforts reflect His purpose, and situating our efforts to serve others within a framework of kingdom work.
2. Being the Church. When individuals come together to pray, they identify themselves both with one another and with God, building a conversation that draws us together as we come collectively before the Lord. We speak to God in the context of our own individual relationships with Him, but also as members of His church—a people who know, love, and serve Him.
3. Support and Encouragement. Partnering in prayer creates a supportive community. By praying for one another, we share burdens and celebrate victories together. For us at Connect 2 Ministries, knowing that others are praying for us is an ongoing encouragement to continue on, even in challenging times.
4. Transformation. Prayer has the power to transform lives. When we pray for the work of God’s kingdom, we’re not just asking for resources or success; we’re seeking hearts to be changed, lives to be touched, and communities to be redeemed. Our prayers ask for spiritual awakenings, healing, and restoration in individuals and communities, all because we know that the Lord rejoices over even one sinner who repents.
5. Stewardship. As stewards of the gifts God has given us, we are called to be faithful in prayer. Praying to the Lord reminds us that we are accountable to God for our actions and encourages us to be diligent in our mission as a result. Every time we pray for Christian ministry, we encounter an opportunity to renew our commitment to be good stewards of our time, resources, and relationships.
We invite you to join us in prayer as we seek God’s direction and purpose through the powerful act of communing with Him.
