At Connect 2 Ministries, our mission is to support international churches and pastors by fostering a sound biblical foundation in ministry. Our ministry to restavek children flows from that goal. As our pastors came to know Christ personally and understand His heart for the lost more deeply, they also became convicted of the need to stand against the restavek system in Haiti. According to the World Health Organization, “Cholera is an acute diarrhoeal infection caused by ingestion of food or water contaminated with the bacterium Vibrio cholerae.”1 Cholera induces high-volume fluid loss that can progress to shock and ultimately death. The National Library of Medicine’s website cites an estimate of more than four million cases per year, worldwide.2 Cholera developed as a major health crisis in Haiti amid relief efforts following the 2010 earthquake. Over the years, our four core pillars have been the guiding principles. We are biblically focused, church centric, invested in compassionate relationships, and rooted in indigenous ministry. There’s a simple reason for that. The challenge in ministry is that if you take too broad of an approach, you end up exhausting your resources quickly and reaching less people as a result.
