Pastor Testimony—Pierre Jean David

“This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” —Joshua 1:8–10 Pastor Pierre Jean David Pastor Pierre Jean David knew about Jesus from a [...]

Pastor Testimony—Charles Michelet

“For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the Lord will take me in.” —Psalm 27:10 Pastor Charles Michelet Some of you may know Pastor Charles Michelet, one of the Haitian pastors we have the honor of doing ministry with. Pastor Michelet came to Onaville with his family in 2012, and the very next year, he organized a small group to study God’s Word. That small group began to grow and became a church not long after, as Pastor Michelet began to study at a Bible school. Last fall, we sent a team [...]

Laying a Foundation, Part 2

Laying a Foundation, Part 2 Sunday, continued It’s not often that we get a rainstorm during the day, but we continued our Sunday in a pleasant tropical shower. I led some of the team on a tour of the Vocational Training Center, which is still in the works. Getting the lay of the land really communicates the ministry’s vision: the facility includes centers for sewing, woodworking, automotive repair, tiling, computer access, and culinary arts (with an amazing kitchen), all designed to equip our students for future life and work. I look forward [...]

Building Hope for a Bigger Future, Part 1

Building Hope for a Bigger Future, Part 1 Last September I took a trip with a small group of American volunteers to our ministry compound in Haiti. The purpose of this particular trip was to build the framework of one wing of the secondary school on the compound of the Mercy Children’s Home. Sunday After breakfast we went to Mercy Children’s Home, which is where we will build the Secondary School. Chuck, our project leader, wanted to take a look and see if we could lay out the locations [...]

Testimony Spotlight: Rene Steevenson

During my recent trip to Haiti, I was able to spend some time with one of our older children, Rene Steevenson. He has such a fun personality & I loved being able to spend some time with him and hearing some of his story. Steevenson was brought to the Regency Children's Home by the Brigade for the Protection of Minors (BPM) in September of 2018. He had run away from his owner to escape the abuse he had been suffering, and was rescued off the streets by BPM. I’m so glad he’s safe in our Home now! While Steevenson enjoyed [...]

The Church in Action Part 2

Last week I shared about a portion of my trip to Haiti in July of 2020. Despite the circumstances surrounding COVID-19, I was able to spend time with Pastor Poyis and learn more about Haitian culture. Sunday, July 12, 2020 We continued our drive through Canaan and onward North just on the edge of the ocean north of Port-au-Prince. It was pretty and reminded me a little of the south side of the island of Maui where it is a little dryer inland and more lush toward the ocean. We traveled about 10 miles until we got to this [...]

2020 World Day Against Trafficking in Persons

Today, the global movement to bring awareness on human trafficking touches the heart of each of as at Connect 2 Ministries closely. Over 100 children rescued from trafficking now call our Regency and Mercy Children's Homes their home, and they refer to Pastor Frandy Poyis as their Papi. One of these children is Johnny, and his testimony is incredible. Johnny was the oldest of 7 children, but his mother could not afford to keep him. A common and acceptable practice in Haiti is for a parent to try and secure a better life for their child by selling them. So [...]
