“Seeing the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and when he sat down, his disciples came to him.” —Matthew 5:1
Pastor Marcelin Guercelus
Pastor Guercelus grew up with his family in the countryside of Haiti. His family was Catholic and Vodou. When Christian evangelists would come to the area, Pastor Guercelus would laugh at them because bringing people to Jesus was a pointless and impossible task, in his mind. One time, however, he began to listen to an evangelist who came around. After eight days of this, he asked his Christian aunt if he could go to church with her. It was in this church that Pastor Guercelus accepted Jesus as His savior. His conversion caused a major rift with his family, to the point that his father made him leave and stopped paying for his school. He was eighteen years old when he moved to Port-au-Prince alone.
Pastor Guercelus lived with his aunt in Port-au-Prince. The community was full of young people, and being in a group of his peers encouraged him to work hard and continue attending school. He went to church regularly during this period and began to grow spiritually. After a fruitful period in his life, Pastor Guercelus returned to the countryside to share the gospel as an evangelist. While he was in the countryside, he began to feel a need to grow in his understanding of the Word, which led him to attend Bible school before coming to pastor his current church. Pastor Guercelus has been married to his wife, Sone, for eleven years, and they love serving together.
Please pray that this church would continue to serve Jesus faithfully and share the gospel with unsaved members of the community. Also pray that God would provide for a church member who is living in a bad place and needs to move to a safe home.
