As the Multinational Security Force (MSS) has been at work in Haiti, we have encountered more and more reasons to pray. The MSS mission has made some progress, yet significant challenges remain regarding humanitarian relief. The UN has reported increased concerns regarding street children in Haiti, noting a rise in recruitment efforts by gangs.1 Child protection measures are a critical component of human rights safeguarding, and our prayer is that God would use the UN security mission to bring stability in the country for the protection of restavek children.

Pastor Poyis and our children are safe and cared for, but each day comes with challenges. The local gang has been successful in keeping the police away by threatening to harm the people living in the area if the police try to interfere. Thankfully, Poyis has still been able to get out to secure supplies and food for the kids. Our partnership with Missionary Flights International (MFI) has been invaluable, and we’ve been able to send more nutritious food options to Haiti with their assistance. However, shipping costs are not cheap, and inflation in Haiti is so high that even when food is available, it’s very expensive. Due to these factors, our ministry’s expenses for food alone have risen approximately 300%. Please pray for continued provision of vital resources.

We still want to reestablish our presence in Onaville at our main compound. In the meantime, we will prayerfully relocate Pastor Poyis and the kids to our new property, a second ministry compound. Please pray for the ministry as we seek God’s perfect timing in these next steps.

Ultimately, we trust God’s plan and timing, and we continue to pray that He will use Connect 2 Ministries for sharing the hope of Christ with so many in Haiti who are suffering.

Please join us in praying:

  • For endurance and success for the Multinational Security Support (MSS) mission, in spite of ongoing challenges.
  • That the MSS would succeed in re-securing airports, ports, main highways, and essential elements of Haiti’s infrastructure.
  • Ongoing safety and provision for Pastor Poyis and the kids. We praise God for the way He has kept His hand on them for good.
  • Safety in moving Pastor Poyis and the children to a more secure location. We pray for God’s continued provision.
