In Haiti, the Connect 2 Ministries main campus finds its home in Onaville, on the outskirts of Port-au-Prince. About a mile down the road from this compound, you’ll find our Children’s Homes, where we provide education, food, housing, and community for rescued restavek children. Last Saturday, we hosted our first ever Walk for Restaveks in Simi Valley to raise awareness about the struggles these kids face and the need they have for physical and spiritual rescue.
More than 120 individuals, some with their families and friends, came together to pray for and support the Church’s ministry efforts to these precious children. Over the course of the morning, we prayed for…
- Stability in Haiti’s government; specifically for the Brigade for Protection of Minors to resume rescuing children.
- Immediate rescue for runaway restaveks being picked up by gangs.
- Our Children’s Homes to meet max capacity, and the opportunity to open even more Children’s Homes.
- Healing, both physical and spiritual, for the restaveks in our homes. Our hope is that they will grasp the gospel and mature in their faith.
The day was an encouragement from start to finish. It was a wonderful time, complete with bounce houses, face painting, and fellowship with friends, old and new. Most importantly, we are thankful for the Lord’s provision in our ministry and in the lives of the children we minister to in Haiti. We hope you’ll join us again in March as we look forward to another opportunity to Walk for Restaveks together.
